  • Penfolds Bluestone Grand Tawny Port NZD $37.50
The Penfolds Tawnies are made in Solera Systems (stacked blending systems) at Penfolds’ Kalimna Tawny Cellars. These wines are all aged in 300-litre hogsheads (oak barrels) that are at least twenty years old when they reach the Tawny Cellars, having been used for other Penfolds wines up until that point. The maturation process deliberately takes place under corrugated iron. At the height of summer the temperature on the top stack can reach 55 degrees; while in winter, the temperature can fall below 8 degrees. These cyclic swings in temperature are vital to the maturation process, as evaporation, concentration and controlled oxidation are all a part of the complex nature of the aromas and flavours. The combination of extended barrel maturation and the Penfolds tradition of excellence ensure Bluestone Rare Tawny has exceptional fruit richness, mellow aged complexity and great length of flavour.
  • PENFOLDS BIN 620 Cabernet Shiraz 2008 NZD $1600.00
Beautifully presented in a leather wine bottle case, This wine pays homage to the 1966 Bin 620, a legendary Penfolds show wine from a great Coonawarra vintage.  A unique Australian blend - Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz - true to the Penfolds house style and worthy of Special Bin status. In the 2008 vintage our low yielding Penfolds Coonawarra Blocks 5, 10 & 20 produced superb quality fruit with tremendous flavour definition, allowing the creation of a wine similar in style and stature to the original 1966 Bin 620. Barrel fermentation in new French and American oak has woven all the fruit and oak elements into a wine of impressive depth and complexity. This classically structured, beautifully balanced wine has all the finesse and integrity to develop and evolve for many decades with careful cellaring
  • Penfolds Grandfather Port NZD $110.00
In 1915, an oak cask containing a blend of the finest tawnies the company possessed was set aside for the exclusive use of the Penfold family. This became known as 'the Grandfather' due to the great age of the oldest tawnies in the blend. Penfolds Grandfather Liqueur Tawny, a blend of the finest old tawnies and aged in small oak casks, honours this proud tradition and is Australia's leading example of this style. The rich yet delicate fruit character harmonises perfectly with pronounced aged rancio complexity to produce a truly remarkable aged liqueur tawny. Individual components are given extended maturation in small oak barrels in Penfolds Kalimna Tawny Cellar in the Barossa Valley before an extremely strict barrel selection process. The best barrels are carefully blended to create Penfolds Grandfather. Deep amber - mahogany in colour with the green gold tinges indicative of great age. The nose is extremely complex and fragrant, possessing an array of nutty, vanillin, aged characters melding seamlessly with hints of raisined fruit, malt and lifted spirit. The palate effortlessly displays the famed attributes of great Liqueur Tawny; luscious, rich and full flavoured with mouthfilling viscosity and a slightly dry finish. Intense raisined fruit, walnut and toffee flavours harmonise with subtle vanillin oak and rancio complexity before a remarkably long finish. Presented in a wooden case.
