Riesling

  • Forrest Estate The Doctors Riesling 2007 NZD $19.00
Described brilliantly by Helen Morrison assistant winemaker at Forrest estate Wines as "Toffee apples; sweet on the outside but apply and tart in the middle". It is all juicy granny smith apples, lemon sherbet and grapefruit flavours - sweet mid-palate balanced with a zingy acidity to give a refreshing finish. It is lower in alcohol making it perfect for lunchtime, especially when you have to return to work.
  • Sanctuary Riesling 2008 NZD $18.00
Beautiful citrus fruit and blossom, both aromatically and on the palate. This accomplished Riesling would make a great partner for a seafood gratin. Medium-dry
  • Pegasus Bay Riesling 2009 NZD $27.00
This wine has aromas and flavours of lemons, limes, white peaches, nectarines and spice. With careful cellaring it should become intensely perfumed with impressions of honey-suckle, mandarin, orange and marmalade. It is concentrated, but yet, not heavy in the palate, and well balanced with a fresh crisp finish.
  • Momo Riesling 2006 NZD $18.00
One of the excellent second-tier range produced by Seresin Estate, this off-dry style Riesling embodies the classic characters of this variety that are nicely concentrated with extra bottle-age. Developed, intense perfumed citrus/honey aromas with flinty mineral touches overlay an interesting perfectly-balanced palate of juicy sweetish lemon/lime marmalade flavours offset with clean acidity on a graceful finish. Irresistible to all white-wine lovers.
  • Hunters Marlborough Riesling 2006 NZD $19.95
A finely balanced wine with lifted floral flavours. Dry in style with hints of citrus and spicy apple on the palate.
  • Waimea Classic Riesling Nelson 2007 NZD $19.50
A delicate, medium style Riesling with intense lime, tropical and floral aromas. Some beneficial botrytis influence is evident in this wine – subtle spice and honey flavours – while on the palate the residual sugar is balanced by firm acidity. Refreshing flavours, fruit zestiness and a lower alcohol make this an excellent luncheon wine.
  • Stafford Lane Nelson Riesling 2006 NZD $19.50
Pale straw in colour. Aromas of toasted lemon and apple on the nose. A juicy mouth-watering wine that shows tangelo and mandarin flavours. Finishing with tropical fruit and a hint of Carmel.
