    The perfect summer Sauvignon. Vavasour vineyards were the original pioneers of grape growing in the now trendy Awatere Valley just south of Blenheim. This beautifully balanced Marlborough wine makes a mockery of its price. - Bright, clear passionfruit and citrus flavours abound making the wine a great accompaniment for light, fresh, long summer lunches - but just as nice on its own! This wine has been a best seller since it came on the market.

Serving Suggestions Well-chilled with oysters, or almost any shellfish. Has sufficient acidity to serve with light cream sauces. Some flinty minerality is evident with a touch of powder or talc. A medium bodied palate, with white peach, ripe greens, gooseberry and currants. Harmonious acid balance contributes to a long finish complemented by the flinty mineral characters typical of the Awatere Valley.

The palate really delivers, it’s full and succulent with excellent weight and plenty of juicy ripe fruit. There is sufficient acidity to give freshness without giving a sharp finish. A beautifully balanced wine.
  • Vavasour Sauvign Blanc 2008 NZD $23.00
    Here is another amazing Sauvignon Blanc, made from veteran vines in the Awatere Valley at the oldest winery in this region, Vavasour. Every year this wine is a stand out for its linear style; its fresh flavours dominate an underlying fruit appeal that is subdued (thankfully), making this Sauvignon a great match with Bluff oysters. Not that you should wait till their season to get your lips around several glasses of this stunning wine.
  • Esk Valley Estate Black Label Sauvignon Blanc 2007 NZD $23.00
    This is a full bodied and rich style of Sauvignon Blanc, very much in a Hawkes Bay style. The warmer nature of the region provides the wine with an amalgam of the ripe tropical fruit flavours with an underlying herbaceousness. Passionfruit and ripe citrus notes predominate with a crisp refreshing finish.
